What is COGOG?

Cogog is a Partnership of multi-agency, cross sector bodies, working collaboratively across Denbighshire to deliver food related projects, bringing a range of valued expertise to support the development of initiatives.

The name Cogog is unique, as it is made up of Coginio (Cook) and Gogledd (North). We wanted a name that could fit a food partnership in Wales if it were to grow beyond the boundaries of Denbighshire, and possibly become a regional partnership for North Wales over time.

Background and context

In November 2021, the Partnership Board was first created with the following aims:

  • Develop a partnership approach to maximise the skills and resources of public, private and third sector groups and organisations in Denbighshire, to address the issues of food waste and food poverty.
  • Minimise food waste in Denbighshire by developing sustainable surplus food initiatives.
  • Develop sustainable projects and services providing access to more nutritious and affordable foods.
  • Establish a work plan to successfully undertake and monitor these activities, providing support and direction to operational delivery teams.
